About School Council

School Council plays an important role in supporting the governance, leadership and strategic direction of Karingal Primary School. Working in partnership with the Principal, School Council helps guide decision-making to support student learning, wellbeing and the ongoing improvement of the school.

ROLE OF SCHOOL COUNCIL

 

School Council contributes to the effective governance and long-term direction of the school. The Council works collaboratively to support positive outcomes for students, staff and the wider school community.

 

Key areas of responsibility include:

 

strategic planning and school improvement
financial oversight and budget approval
policy development and review
• supporting student wellbeing and engagement
• maintaining strong community partnerships
• contributing to a safe, inclusive and positive school environment

OFFICE BEARER ROLES

 

President


Leads School Council meetings, works closely with the Principal and helps guide the overall direction and effectiveness of School Council.

 

Vice President


Supports the President and assists with leadership responsibilities, and meeting facilitation when required.

 

Treasurer


Supports School Council in monitoring school finances, budgeting and financial reporting processes, while working alongside the Business Manager to help understand and review the school’s financial position.

 

Assistant Treasurer


Assists the Treasurer with financial oversight, administration and reporting responsibilities.

 

Secretary


Supports meeting administration, including agendas, minutes and communication relating to School Council operations.

 

Assistant Secretary


Provides additional administrative support and assists with communication and organisational tasks when required.

SCHOOL COUNCIL MEMBERS

 

School Council includes elected parent representatives, Department of Education staff representatives and community members who work collaboratively to support the school community.

 

The Council brings together a range of perspectives, skills and experiences to help guide school decision-making and ongoing school improvement.

 

 

SUBCOMMITTEES

 

School Council is supported by a number of subcommittees that focus on specific areas of school operations and development.

 

These groups allow members of the school community to contribute their skills, knowledge and ideas to support ongoing school improvement.

 

Finance Subcommittee

 

Supports financial planning, budgeting and monitoring of school finances.

 

Facilities Subcommittee

 

Focuses on school grounds, buildings, maintenance projects and future facility improvements.

 

Education Subcommittee

 

Supports discussion and review of curriculum, student learning and school policies.

 

Community & Fundraising Subcommittee

 

Supports community engagement, school events, fundraising initiatives and Parents & Friends (P&F) activities.

 

Members of the school community are encouraged to become involved in subcommittees and contribute to the ongoing growth and development of the school.
