Restorative Practices

At Karingal Primary School, restorative practices play an important role in building positive relationships, supporting student wellbeing and maintaining a respectful school culture. Our restorative approach encourages students to reflect on their actions, understand the impact of their behaviour and work collaboratively to repair harm when challenges arise.

Rather than focusing solely on punishment, restorative practices support students to develop empathy, accountability, communication and problem-solving skills. Students are encouraged to express their thoughts and feelings respectfully, listen to others and work together to resolve conflict in positive and constructive ways.

Restorative practices are embedded across classrooms and everyday interactions throughout the school, helping students build strong relationships and a sense of belonging within the school community.

By prioritising understanding, reflection and positive relationship-building, restorative practices help create a safe, inclusive and supportive environment where students feel heard, respected and valued.
