Respectful Relationships

At Karingal Primary School, we are committed to creating a safe, inclusive and supportive environment where every student feels respected, valued and connected.

As part of the Victorian Curriculum, our students participate in the Respectful Relationships program, which helps children develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to build positive relationships, understand themselves and show respect for others.

Building Respect, Resilience and Wellbeing

Respectful Relationships supports students to:

• Develop emotional awareness and empathy
• Build confidence and resilience
• Learn positive ways to solve problems and manage challenges
• Understand and value diversity
• Build healthy friendships and relationships
• Recognise the importance of inclusion, equality and respect

These important life skills help students develop positive relationships both within and beyond the classroom.

A Whole-School Approach

At Karingal Primary School, Respectful Relationships is more than a classroom program. We promote respect, inclusion and positive relationships across all aspects of school life.

Students are encouraged to:

• Treat others with kindness and respect
• Value different perspectives and experiences
• Work collaboratively with others
• Demonstrate empathy and understanding
• Contribute positively to our school community

Through consistent messages, positive role modelling and meaningful learning experiences, students develop the skills needed to become respectful, responsible and active members of their community.

These learning experiences support student wellbeing and help create a positive learning environment where everyone can thrive.

Working in Partnership with Families

Families play an important role in helping children develop respectful relationships. By working together, schools and families can reinforce the values of respect, inclusion, kindness and empathy that help children succeed both at school and in life.
