Student Progress and Reporting

Karingal Primary School values strong partnerships between students, families and teachers to support learning, growth and wellbeing.

Families receive regular updates about student progress through student reports, student-led conferences and ongoing communication opportunities throughout the year.

Our reporting processes aim to provide families with clear information about student achievement, learning growth and next steps for learning while encouraging students to reflect on and celebrate their progress.

We value open communication and encourage families to work in partnership with teachers to support positive learning outcomes for every student.

Reporting Throughout the Year

Karingal Primary School provides families with a range of opportunities throughout the year to stay informed about their child’s learning progress and development.

Term 1 | Curriculum Information Evenings

At the beginning of the school year, families are invited to attend a Curriculum Information Evening for their child’s year level.

These sessions provide information about:

  • Classroom programs and learning expectations
  • Curriculum areas and learning approaches
  • Student wellbeing and classroom routines
  • Ways families can support learning at home

Mid-Year Reports

In Semester One, families receive a written student report outlining their child’s progress and achievement across curriculum areas.

The report provides information about:

  • Student achievement and progress
  • Learning behaviours and effort
  • Areas of strength
  • Future learning goals and next steps

Information regarding reporting timelines is communicated through Compass and the school newsletter.

Term 3 | Student-Led Conferences

During Term 3, students participate in student-led conferences alongside their families and teachers.

These conferences provide students with the opportunity to:

  • Reflect on their learning
  • Share achievements and goals
  • Discuss progress and areas of growth
  • Celebrate learning successes

Student-led conferences encourage students to take an active role in their learning journey while strengthening partnerships between home and school.

End of Year Reports

At the conclusion of the school year, families receive a Semester Two written report summarising student achievement, progress and learning growth across all curriculum areas.

Ongoing Communication

Karingal Primary School values open and respectful communication between families and staff throughout the year.

Families are encouraged to contact their child’s classroom teacher whenever they wish to discuss:

  • Student wellbeing
  • Learning progress
  • Academic concerns
  • Social or emotional development
  • Additional support needs

Similarly, teachers may contact families to discuss student progress, wellbeing or areas requiring additional support.

Working together in partnership helps ensure the best possible outcomes for every student.
