Karingal Primary School is committed to maintaining policies that are current, effective and aligned with Department of Education requirements, legislative obligations and best practice standards.

School policies are regularly reviewed to ensure they continue to support the safety, wellbeing, learning and effective operation of the school.

The review process also helps ensure policies remain relevant to the needs of students, staff, families and the wider school community while reflecting changes to legislation, Department guidelines and school priorities.

Policy development and review is an important part of the school’s governance and continuous improvement processes.

Policies may be developed, updated or reviewed in response to:

• changes to Department of Education requirements or legislation
• identified school needs or operational changes
• feedback from staff, families or the school community
• ongoing school improvement and strategic planning processes
• scheduled policy review timelines

The School Council Education Subcommittee plays an important role in supporting policy development and review processes.

The subcommittee assists in reviewing policies, discussing proposed updates and considering how policies support student learning, wellbeing, inclusion and school operations before recommendations are provided to School Council where required.

Where appropriate, policy review and development processes may involve consultation with staff, School Council and relevant members of the school community.

Approved policies are published and updated as part of the school’s ongoing commitment to effective governance, transparency and continuous improvement.
