The Victorian Schools Garden Program Awards recognise and celebrate the gardening achievements of students and their school communities in existing and newly established gardens.
Now in their 48th year, the Awards have a long and proud history of bringing gardening skills and the joy of learning to school- aged children.
The Awards are all about recognising schools that use their outdoor spaces to promote the engagement of students in practical activities which foster learning, well-being and community pride.
Once again, Karingal Primary School was successful in winning an award. We won the Turf Victoria Award. This is a prize of turf installed in our school. It is very exciting to see another area of the school will be developed.
Miss Cooke, Marilyn and Jo took 35 students along to the Royal Botanic Gardens to attend the Award Ceremony. They had a wonderful day in the grounds of the Botanic Gardens, participating in gardening experiences and exploring the children's Ian Potter Centre.
It is always wonderful to be recognised for our AMAZING school garden. Congratulations to Marilyn, Jo, Julie and Emily, along with the children who support them.
