Prep Transition 2023/24

Transition into Primary School

Our Foundation Transition Program aims to provide your child with many opportunities to learn about our school and begin settling in.

Our goal is to have students feel safe, happy and excited about starting their school life at Karingal Primary School.

It is our hope that each child has a happy, positive and satisfying beginning to the great adventure of life at school. Our supportive and caring transition program focuses on building relationships between your child, teacher and family. We aim to facilitate smooth transition between Pre-school and Foundation through our school tours and transition sessions.

School Tours

Our next school tour will take place on Thursday 27th October at 10:00am. If you would like to come along for a school tour, please email Samantha Cooke by emailing Samantha.Cooke@education.vic.gov.au

Alternatively, contact the school office on 9788 4800. If this dates/times do not suit, please contact the school and arrange another time.

Transition Sessions for Students

Once enrolled we strongly recommend that your child attends each transition session. The majority of our tranisiton sessions are held within the Prep classrooms so your child can familiarise themselves with their new surroundings and teachers. Entry is via Ashleigh Avenue next to Wingham Park.

Transition Sessions for Parents & Carers

Wednesday 7th September: Prep Discovery Afternoon

Session Time: 4.00pm to 5.00pm
Venue: Prep classrooms (enter via Ashleigh Avenue next to Wingham Park)
An afternoon of discovery for parents and children, chat to the teachers and explore the classrooms.

Wednesday 30th November: School Information Evening

Session Time: 5.30pm to 6.15pm
Venue: BER Building (enter via Mallum Avenue)
Information to prepare your child for school. Find out your child's class and teacher allocation.

Tuesday 6th December: Prep Orientation Day

Session Time: 10.00am to 1:00pm
Venue: Prep classrooms (enter via Ashleigh Avenue next to Wingham Park)
Children will be in their new class and participate in a range of school activities, at 1pm Parents/Carers are
invited to join the children for a sausage sizzle.
