Working Bee Sunday June 21st 9.30-12pm
While our gardening days are likely to be impacted by the weather over the winter months, we are always busy with a variety of chores needed to keep our gardens looking their best throughout the seasons! However, we (The Not-So-Young Garden Girls!) recognise our limitations and look forward to some helping hands for another productive working bee on Sunday, rewarded by a delicious morning tea!
We acknowledge and thank Thom Fox and his team at Repurpose It for arranging the supply and delivery of compost and mulch in time for our working bee! Their support is again much appreciated and will allow us to top up existing garden beds and to prepare new garden beds for students to plant up in July, as part of National Schools Tree Day.

Getting to Know the People Behind Karingal Primary School
We are excited to launch our new Meet Our Staff series, giving our school community the opportunity to learn more about the people who help make Karingal Primary School such a wonderful place to learn and grow.
Our first feature introduces Chelsea Hunter, Grade 1A Teacher. Take a moment to read Chelsea’s profile and discover more about her teaching journey, interests and what inspires her both inside and outside the classroom.
We hope you enjoy getting to know the amazing staff who make up our Karingal Primary School community.

Our Year 5/6 students recently enjoyed an exciting and educational excursion to Scienceworks in Melbourne.
Students travelled by train, giving them the opportunity to practise important travel skills while experiencing public transport in a real-world setting. The journey was filled with excitement as students travelled together and prepared for a day of discovery.
At Scienceworks, students explored a range of interactive exhibits that brought science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) concepts to life. They participated in hands-on activities, investigated scientific principles and discovered how science influences our everyday lives.
A highlight of the day was the opportunity to engage with the interactive displays, encouraging students to question, experiment and think critically. Throughout the excursion, students demonstrated curiosity, enthusiasm and excellent behaviour, representing Karingal Primary School with pride.
The excursion provided valuable learning experiences that complemented classroom learning while creating lasting memories for our students.
We would like to thank our staff and parent helpers who supported the excursion and helped make the day such a success.

Year 5/6 Lightning Premiership Success
Congratulations to all of our Year 5/6 students who proudly represented Karingal Primary School at the recent Lightning Premiership events. Students competed in soccer, AFL and netball, demonstrating excellent teamwork, sportsmanship and resilience throughout the day.
The Lightning Premiership provided students with the opportunity to challenge themselves against teams from other local schools while developing their skills, confidence and teamwork. Across all three sports, our students displayed determination, respect and a positive attitude, supporting one another and representing Karingal Primary School with pride.
Our AFL team achieved an excellent result, finishing 3rd in Division 2 after a series of competitive matches. Both of our netball teams also performed exceptionally well, with the Girls Netball Team finishing 2nd in Division 2 and the Mixed Netball Team placing 4th in Division 2. These results are a testament to the hard work, commitment and teamwork shown by all players throughout the competition.
A special congratulations goes to our Year 5/6 Girls Soccer Team, who achieved an outstanding result by being crowned Lightning Premiership Champions. The team showcased exceptional skill, determination and teamwork throughout the day, working together brilliantly to secure the championship title. This is a fantastic achievement and one that every player should be incredibly proud of.
We are extremely proud of all students who participated in the Lightning Premiership. Their efforts, enthusiasm and sportsmanship were a credit to themselves, their families and our school community. Well done to everyone involved on a successful and memorable day of sport.

This week, our Prep to Grade 4 students enjoyed a fantastic Swimming Program, developing important water safety skills while building confidence and having fun in the pool.
Throughout the week, students participated in lessons tailored to their individual abilities, with qualified instructors guiding them through a range of activities designed to improve swimming technique, water confidence and personal safety. From learning the basics of floating and kicking to refining strokes and endurance, students embraced every opportunity to challenge themselves and celebrate their progress.
Beyond the valuable swimming skills gained, the program also provided students with opportunities to demonstrate perseverance, resilience and a positive attitude towards learning. It was wonderful to see students encouraging one another, celebrating achievements and growing in confidence each day.
We are incredibly proud of the enthusiasm and effort shown by all students throughout the program and thank our staff, instructors and families for their support in making the week such a success.

As we prepare for the start of Term 3, families are reminded that Monday 13 July will be a student-free day to allow for our Parent-Teacher Interviews.
Parent-Teacher Interviews provide an important opportunity for families and teachers to come together to discuss each child’s learning, progress and development.
These conversations allow teachers to share insights into student achievements, areas of growth and learning goals, while also providing families with the opportunity to ask questions and discuss how they can continue to support learning at home.
We value the strong partnership between home and school and encourage all families to take advantage of this opportunity to connect with their child’s teacher.
Working together helps ensure every student is supported to achieve their best and continue to grow in confidence, knowledge and skills.
Further information regarding interview bookings, available times and the booking process will be provided to families early next week.
Term 3 Commences
Following the student-free day, Term 3 will commence for students on Tuesday 14 July.
We look forward to welcoming students back for another exciting term of learning, growth and new opportunities.
Term 3 promises to be a busy and rewarding term, with engaging learning experiences, special events and opportunities for students to continue building their skills, confidence and connections within our school community.
We encourage students to return refreshed, ready to learn and eager to embrace the opportunities that the new term will bring.

Mark your calendars and keep Sunday 21 June free for our next Karingal Primary School Working Bee.
Working Bees are a wonderful opportunity for our school community to come together, connect and make a positive contribution to our learning environment.
We warmly invite students, families, siblings and community members to join us for another collaborative day of teamwork and fun.
We’ll meet near the Community Garden outside the office from 9:30am to 12:00pm, with volunteers welcome to stay for all or part of the day.
One of the key projects for the day will be preparing our garden beds ahead of Tree Planting Day, helping to create beautiful spaces that our students can enjoy for years to come.
There will also be a range of other jobs and projects to suit all ages and abilities.
Students are encouraged to roll up their sleeves and get involved alongside their families, helping to make a real difference to our school environment.
Following the Working Bee, everyone is invited to stay and enjoy a delicious morning tea together.
Whether you can spare an hour or stay for the entire day, your support makes a real difference.
The more hands we have, the more we can achieve, so the more the merrier!
We look forward to seeing many familiar and new faces as we work together to continue making Karingal Primary School a wonderful place to learn, grow and belong.

Prep Transition Program - 2027 Foundation Students
We are excited to welcome our future Prep students and their families to Karingal Primary School’s 2027 Prep Transition Program.
Starting school is an important milestone, and our transition program has been designed to help children feel confident, comfortable and excited about beginning their learning journey. Through a series of engaging sessions, children will have the opportunity to explore the school environment, meet teachers and future classmates, participate in fun learning activities, and become familiar with school routines.
Our transition program supports children to develop a sense of belonging while building confidence and independence in a safe, welcoming and supportive environment. These sessions also provide families with an opportunity to learn more about school life and begin forming connections with our school community.
The Term 3 transition sessions will commence in August, with further transition sessions to be held during Term 4. Together, these sessions help ensure children are well prepared and ready to make a positive start to their first year of school.
We are continuing to accept enrolment applications for Foundation (Prep) 2027. Families who are considering Karingal Primary School are encouraged to submit their enrolment application and contact the school office if they would like further information or wish to arrange a school tour.
We look forward to meeting our future students and supporting every child as they take this exciting next step in their learning journey.
