Karingal Primary School acknowledges the Bunurong/Boonwurrung people of the South-Eastern Kulin Nation as the Traditional Owners of the land on which we learn and grow.
We pay our respects to their Elders past and present, and honour their enduring connection to land and waters.
We thank them for caring for this coastline and its ecosystems since time immemorial.

It has been another busy and exciting fortnight at Karingal Primary School, with many opportunities for our students, families and community to come together and celebrate learning, connection and school spirit.
EDUCATION WEEK
This week we proudly celebrated Education Week — a wonderful opportunity to showcase everything that makes Karingal Primary School such a special place to learn, grow and belong.
Students staretd the week embracing the fun of our Crazy Hair Day with creativity, colour and plenty of laughter across the school! It was wonderful to see our students showing confidence, individuality and school spirit while enjoying the celebrations together.
Our Education Week Afternoon was a successful event with many families participating. They had the opportunity to visit every classroom across the school and experience firsthand why Karingal Primary School is loved so much by our students. From engaging learning spaces to the strong relationships and positive classroom environments, this afternoon is a celebration of our wonderful school community and the learning that takes place every day.
As part of the afternoon, families and students were invited to complete an entry form, with all entries going into a prize draw to be announced at Assembly next week.
RECONCILIATION WEEK
Next week, Karingal Primary School will acknowledge Reconciliation Week. This important week provides an opportunity for our students and community to reflect on and learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements, while continuing to build respectful relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the wider Australian community. Throughout the week, students will participate in activities and discussions that promote understanding, respect and reconciliation.
As always, thank you for your continued support of our school and for helping make Karingal Primary School such a positive and connected community.
Take care and stay safe
Samantha Cooke
Principal

CONGRATULATIONS to the following students who received a classroom award in assembly last week.

Our Garden Path
Curiosity and Wonder…
The thrill and excitement of students discovering a big fat caterpillar chomping on a leaf, or of them “waking up” the worms in the compost bin, noticing the colour of a flower which might have stripes or spots on it, leaves which may be smooth, rough, hairy or soft as “Lambs’ Ears”, or noticing for the first time that sweet potato leaves are shaped like a love heart are all daily glimpses of Curiosity and Wonder in the Garden! We are so grateful for these small joyful moments…
Further to our last newsletter, I can today share photos of the gorgeous Terracotta Pots painted by 3/4A and B students then filled with sprigs of Lavender picked from the garden for the Mothers’ Day stall!
What Grows in Our Garden?
Great debate was sparked among students over a new addition to our veggie patch!
Is it a cauliflower or is it a cabbage?
We were delighted and proud to share some of our freshly picked produce from our Community Garden with those who attended the Mothers’s Day/Special Persons’ Morning Tea * See photos.
Sprout Houses AND Hot Chocolate!!
On Wednesday morning Fiona’s M1A students gathered in anticipation to create delightful little Sprout Houses, sprinkling mixed seeds onto soaked cotton wool placed into sandwich bags then framed and decorated now proudly on show in the display window outside their classroom!
More fun followed when hot chocolate was served (with marshmallows of course!) warming us up following our garden project…
Kind regards to all
Marilyn, Julie, Jo and Emily

The event welcomed guests from across all year levels and provided a wonderful opportunity for families and community members to come together in a warm and welcoming environment. Throughout the morning, guests enjoyed spending time together, sharing conversations and relaxing while enjoying a lovely morning tea.
As part of the celebration, our Prep students proudly took part in a special pampering experience organised specifically for their mums, carers and family guests. This thoughtful addition to the morning created many smiles and helped make the event feel even more personal and memorable for our Prep families.
The atmosphere throughout the event was filled with appreciation, connection and community spirit, with many guests enjoying the opportunity to slow down and feel celebrated ahead of Mother’s Day weekend. Crazy Hair Day also provided students with a wonderful opportunity to express themselves creatively while helping create a fun and positive atmosphere across the school. It was fantastic to see students supporting one another, celebrating individuality and embracing the spirit of participation and school community.
A big thank you to our families and staff for helping students prepare their amazing hairstyles and for supporting the day so enthusiastically. The creativity on display was outstanding and helped make the event a memorable experience for everyone involved.
