ANZAC Day 2026

As we move further into Term 2, it has been wonderful to see students quickly settle back into routines, demonstrating our school values of Respect, Integrity, Persistence, Resilience and Relationships in their learning and interactions.

Easter Bonnet Parade – Term 1 Wrap Up
We ended last term on a joyful and creative note with our annual Easter Bonnet Parade. It was fantastic to see the effort and imagination that went into each and every creation, with students proudly showcasing their designs. Thank you to our families for your support in helping bring these ideas to life, and to our staff for organising such a vibrant community event. The parade was a wonderful celebration of creativity and connection to end Term 1 on.

ANZAC Day Commemoration
At the beginning of this term, our school came together to acknowledge ANZAC Day with a respectful and student-led ceremony. Our student leaders did an outstanding job facilitating the service, demonstrating confidence, leadership and a deep understanding of the significance of the occasion.

Following our school ceremony, our student leaders also had the honour of representing Karingal Primary School at the Frankston RSL ANZAC Day service. They conducted themselves with great pride and respect, laying a wreath on behalf of our school community as a symbol of remembrance and gratitude.

It was particularly pleasing to see the level of respect shown by all students throughout both ceremonies, reflecting the strong values we continue to build at Karingal Primary School.

House Cross Country
Our recent House Cross Country event was a fantastic display of perseverance, resilience and house spirit. Students gave their best effort across all age groups, demonstrating determination and encouragement for one another throughout the course. It was wonderful to see our school community come together, with students proudly representing their houses and supporting their peers. Thank you to our staff for their organisation and to our families who came along to cheer on our students.

District Field & Track Athletics
We congratulate our Years 3–6 students who have been selected to represent Karingal Primary School at upcoming District Cross Country and Field Athletics events. This is a fantastic achievement and a reflection of their effort, commitment and sporting spirit. We wish all students the very best as they compete and represent our school with pride.

Breakfast Club
A reminder to families that students attending Breakfast Club are expected to sit down and eat their breakfast in the designated area before heading to class. Breakfast Club is designed to provide students with a calm and positive start to the day, encouraging social connection and healthy eating routines.

Please note that food is not to be taken away from Breakfast Club. We appreciate your support in helping us maintain a safe, respectful and welcoming environment for all students.

Student Sign Out Reminder
To ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students, parents/carers who need to collect their child during school hours must first attend the school office to sign their child out.

Students are not to be collected directly from classrooms or playground areas. Office staff will contact the classroom and arrange for your child to come to the office for collection.

We kindly ask that parents/carers speak with a staff member at the office prior to leaving the school grounds with their child. This will help us maintain accurate attendance records and safe procedures for all students.

School Council Update
We acknowledge the resignation of School Council President, Rachael Franks, and extend our sincere thanks for her outstanding leadership and dedication to Karingal Primary School. Rachael has made a significant contribution to strengthening and supporting our school community, and her efforts are greatly appreciated.

We are pleased to welcome Terence Toh as our new School Council President and look forward to his leadership in this role. We also warmly welcome new School Council members, Jade Toogood-Rogers and Christie Nessel. We thank them for their willingness to contribute to and support the continued growth of our school.

Mother's Day Stall and Morning Tea Thank You
A heartfelt thank you to Jade, Karen, Michelle, Sarah, Toni and Mick for their time, effort and support in organising and running our wonderful Mother’s Day Stall. Your generosity and dedication helped create a special experience for our students as they selected gifts for the important people in their lives.

A sincere thank you to May for helping organise our wonderful Mother’s Day Morning Tea. Your support and effort in bringing the event together was greatly appreciated and helped make the morning so special for our mothers/special persons.

Thank you also to Adele for her beautiful singing performance, and to Terence for accompanying her. Your contribution created a lovely atmosphere and added a very special touch to the celebration.

We thank everyone who attended and helped make the morning such a success.

I would also like to wish all of our mums, grandmothers and special carers a very happy Mother’s Day. I hope you enjoy a beautiful and relaxing day celebrating all that you do for your families and our community.

Take care and stay safe,

Samantha Cooke
Principal

Garden Update with Marilyn - 8/05/2026

ANZAC Day 2026

Our Garden Path – Birthday Edition!

It’s our 2nd Birthday!!!  What began with a suggestion for a small Fairy Garden has grown to become a place where MAGIC happens!

A place where joy and laughter fill the air, where I hear my name called a thousand times with questions, ideas and requests to the ongoing quest of seeking out worms, caterpillars and snails…

A place where we create and appreciate beauty, where we learn about vegetables, fruit, flowers (and bugs); where we also learn about sharing and teamwork, most of all somewhere we gather each day to have fun!

As always, there is so much to share with you all and our photographs will show just how busy and happy we’ve been in the garden with regular class participation including M1A, M3A, 3/4A and 3/4B, 5/6B and a lovely visit from M2B last week!

M1A made gorgeous sensory Nature Wands attaching cute little posies of aromatic herbs and flowers to sticks found around school grounds and finishing off with colourful decorative butterflies!

5/6B gathered last Thursday to make a beautiful Rosemary Wreath as well as sprigs of Rosemary for the ANZAC ceremony held the following day…

Students were also shown how to take cuttings from Saltbush plants growing in the Grade 6 garden following which they potted up about 70!  Some also planted out Bee and Butterfly seed mix and spring bulbs which they will tend to over coming weeks while others preferred to sweep and rake leaving the area around the Community Garden and admin entrance immaculate!

Two classes participated in our long-awaited potato harvest counting approximately 25 in total, one student saying: “I didn’t know you could actually grow potatoes!”

Not to be left out 3/4A and 3/4B were very creative painting little terracotta pots for the Mothers’ Day stall, but you’ll need to wait for our next instalment to see their gorgeous finished products…

Take care until next time.

Marilyn, Julie, Emily and Jo (The Garden Girls)

ANZAC Day 2026

Keep Our Kids Safe at WINGHAM PARK

ANZAC Day 2026

Our school community is calling on Frankston City Council to take action and improve safety at Wingham Park.

Right now, this well-used community space is missing essential infrastructure, including:

• Public toilets
• Shade sails
• A safety fence between the play area and car park

This isn’t just about convenience. It’s about child safety and community wellbeing.

Families, schools and local residents use this space every day. As our community continues to grow, it’s critical that Wingham Park meets the needs of the children and families who rely on it.

The current conditions present ongoing concerns, particularly around supervision, accessibility and safe play. Every child deserves a safe, well-designed environment to learn, play and connect.

To support this, we have launched a community petition to demonstrate strong local support and to push for these much-needed improvements.

We encourage all families and community members to stand with us.

Together, we can create a safer, more inclusive environment for our children.

Easter Bonnet Parade

ANZAC Day 2026

What a wonderful way to finish the term with our annual Easter Bonnet Parade! Our classrooms were filled with creativity as students designed and made their bonnets at school, showcasing an impressive array of colour, imagination and craftsmanship.

There was a real sense of excitement as students proudly paraded their creations, sharing their work with peers, staff and families. A special highlight this year was the parent parade, with families joining in the fun by creating and modelling their own bonnets—bringing plenty of smiles and laughter to the event.

Thank you to everyone who supported our raffle, and congratulations to our lucky winners!

Events like these truly reflect the strong sense of community at Karingal Primary School.

ANZAC Day 2026

ANZAC Day 2026

Karingal Primary School proudly commemorated ANZAC Day with a meaningful school service led by our student leaders and attended by students and staff. The service provided an opportunity for our school community to come together in reflection, remembering the courage, sacrifice and service of the men and women who have served our country.

Our student leaders played an important role in leading the ceremony with respect and maturity, helping younger students understand the significance of ANZAC Day and why it remains such an important part of Australia’s history. Through readings, reflection and the laying of wreaths, students honoured the ANZAC spirit of courage, mateship and service.

Following the school service, our school leaders had the privilege of representing Karingal Primary School at the Frankston RSL commemorative service held at the War Memorial in Beauty Park. This special community service brought together veterans, community members, schools and local organisations to pay tribute to those who have served and those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

We are proud of the respectful way our students represented the school at both services and thank our student leaders for their thoughtful contribution in helping keep the spirit of ANZAC alive for future generations.

Lest we forget.

House Cross Country

ANZAC Day 2026

Our annual House Cross Country was a fantastic whole-school event, bringing together students from every year level in a wonderful display of participation, persistence and house spirit. The day provided students with an opportunity to challenge themselves, support one another and enjoy being active in a positive and encouraging environment.

Students in Grades 3 to 6 began the day racing from 9.30am on a course around the school and surrounding area. Students approached the event with enthusiasm and determination, giving their best effort while proudly representing their houses. It was pleasing to see students encouraging one another throughout the morning, demonstrating both sportsmanship and teamwork as they competed.

In the afternoon, our Prep to Grade 2 students took part in their fun run around Wingham Park. This was a joyful and energetic part of the day, with younger students embracing the experience with enthusiasm and confidence. It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces as students ran, participated and celebrated their achievements.

The event was further enhanced by the support of families who came along to cheer on students throughout the day. Their encouragement helped create a positive atmosphere and added to the strong sense of community that was evident across the event.

House Cross Country continues to be an important part of our school calendar, promoting physical activity, resilience, participation and house pride. Events such as these provide students with valuable opportunities to challenge themselves, set personal goals and celebrate success, whether through competition, improvement or simply giving their best effort.

A huge congratulations to Paringa, who proudly claimed the title of overall House Cross Country champions for 2026. In our junior competition, 2A were outstanding and celebrated as Junior Cross Country champions, demonstrating excellent participation, teamwork and spirit.

Congratulations to all students for their participation and effort, and thank you to staff and volunteers who supported the planning and running of the event.

(Please note that Junior and Senior School Photos are displayed separately in the sections below.)

District Track and Field

ANZAC Day 2026

Our students proudly represented the school at the District Track & Field Athletics events held at Ballam Park, with the track and field components taking place across separate days.

Across both days of competition, students showcased their determination, teamwork and school pride. From the excitement of the sprint races on the track to the focus and skill displayed in field events, our students gave their best in every moment.

A highlight of the track events was the way students competed confidently in their lanes, demonstrating excellent sportsmanship and resilience. On the field day, participants performed strongly, showing great technique, persistence and a willingness to challenge themselves.

We are incredibly proud of all students who represented our school. Their positive attitude, encouragement of teammates and commitment to doing their best truly reflected our school values.

Congratulations to those who will progress to the next level of competition, and well done to everyone involved for making it such a successful and enjoyable series of events.

School Upgrades

ANZAC Day 2026

School Upgrades - Creating Better Spaces for Our Students

Over the April school holidays, several areas around our school were refreshed and enhanced to create more welcoming and functional spaces for our students.

Two of our quiet outdoor areas have been upgraded with new synthetic turf, transforming them into comfortable, low-maintenance spaces where students can relax, connect with friends, or enjoy a calm break during the day. These improvements not only enhance the look of the spaces, but also ensure they remain usable in all weather conditions.

We have also upgraded the area between the basketball court and the oval, which has now been resurfaced with new turf. This space provides a cleaner, safer and more usable transition area for students moving between key parts of the school, while also improving the overall appearance of this well-used section of our grounds.

This particular upgrade was made possible through an exciting achievement. In 2025, our school was proud to be recognised with the Turf Victoria Award, which included the installation of premium turf on site. This award has allowed us to further enhance our outdoor environment and expand the number of high-quality spaces available to our students.

These upgrades may be small, but they have a meaningful impact on the daily experience of our students. By continuing to invest in our learning and wellbeing environments, we are creating spaces that support connection, comfort and a strong sense of belonging across our school community.
