As we reach the end of Term 4 and the 2025 school year, I want to take a moment to say a huge and heartfelt thank you to our entire Karingal Primary School community. It has been a big, busy and very rewarding year, and I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved together.
To our wonderful teachers and education support staff – thank you for your hard work, care and high expectations every single day. You have created calm, caring and engaging classrooms, supported students through their learning challenges and celebrated their successes. Your commitment to our school values and to every child’s wellbeing and learning does not go unnoticed.
To our families and carers – thank you for your ongoing support, encouragement and trust. Whether you’ve helped with reading, attended school events, washed uniforms, packed lunches, or simply had those important “after school” chats, you have played a vital part in your child’s year. We truly value the partnership we share with you.
To our School Council – thank you for your leadership, guidance and countless hours behind the scenes. Your work in shaping the direction of our school, supporting improvement and championing our students and staff is greatly appreciated. We are very fortunate to have such a dedicated and positive group working alongside us.
To our broader community, volunteers and P&F – thank you for giving your time, talents and energy to support our programs, fundraisers and events throughout the year. Your generosity helps us create extra opportunities and experiences for our students and makes Karingal PS such a special place to belong.
And finally, to our amazing students – thank you for your hard work, your kindness, your humour and your resilience. You have shown our school values in the classroom, in the yard, on excursions, in performances and on the sporting field. A special mention to our Year 6 students as they prepare to begin their secondary school journey – we are very proud of you and wish you every success in the years ahead.
As we head into the holidays, I wish all of our families a very happy and safe break. I hope you have time to rest, relax and enjoy special moments with family and friends. For those celebrating, I wish you a very Merry Christmas and a joyful festive season.
Thank you once again for your ongoing support of Karingal Primary School. I look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed and ready for another exciting year of learning in 2026.
Stay safe and take care

Royal Botanic Gardens Award Celebration – What a Proud Moment!
A very special congratulations to our wonderful gardening students who recently visited the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne to proudly accept the Victorian School Gardens Program Product Award for the installation of turf at Karingal Primary School. This exciting award recognises the creation of yet another beautiful green space for our students to enjoy, learn and connect with nature.
Our students represented Karingal with pride, demonstrating outstanding behaviour, confidence and enthusiasm throughout the ceremony. They thoroughly enjoyed the activities provided and were wonderful ambassadors for our school and sustainability programs.
Following the formal celebration, students had a fantastic time exploring the beautiful Ian Potter Children’s Garden. From imaginative play spaces to hands-on nature experiences, it was the perfect way to round out a very special day of learning, discovery and celebration.
We are incredibly proud of our students and all involved in our gardening and sustainability programs. This award is a wonderful recognition of the hard work, teamwork and dedication that continues to grow at Karingal Primary School.

What an incredible, colour-splashed, slime-filled and foam-covered afternoon we shared with our hugely successful Messy Madness fundraiser! The smiles, laughter and sheer excitement from our students (and staff!) made this event one to remember.
Students moved through a variety of messy activity stations including vibrant colour throwing, endless slime fun and, of course, the highlight for many – the giant foam machine! From the very first blast of foam to the final slippery slide of the afternoon, the energy and excitement never stopped. It was wonderful to see students letting loose, supporting one another, and embracing the fun in such a positive and joyful way.
One of the biggest highlights of the day was our very brave volunteers – Miss Cooke, Miss H, Miss Hunter, Joel, Chris B, Kaye and our amazing student leaders – who were all slimed by our top money raisers! The cheers were loud, the slime was thick, and the laughter was unforgettable.
A very special congratulations to our top fundraisers – Eliana, Helena, Zen, Pippa, Finn, Lily P, Rory, Rayden, Henry G, Lucy and Jack – what an outstanding effort! Your dedication, determination and generosity helped make this fundraiser such a huge success, and you truly earned the honour of doing the sliming!
A huge thank you must go to our amazing P&F and volunteers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to organise, set up and run the event so smoothly. Your time, effort and commitment made this day possible. We also extend our sincere thanks to our community for your incredible support through donations and fundraising – the success of this event will directly benefit our students and future school programs.
Most of all, thank you to our students for embracing the fun, showing great sportsmanship and making the day such a vibrant celebration of community spirit.
Messy Madness truly showcased the joy of coming together as a school community – covered in slime, colour and foam from head to toe!

A Fond Farewell to Our Year 6 Students
Next Friday, we farewell our amazing Year 6 students as they prepare to take their next exciting step into secondary school. It is always a proud and emotional time for our school community as we reflect on how much our students have grown during their years at Karingal Primary School.
Our Year 6 students have been wonderful role models and leaders this year. They have shown resilience, responsibility, kindness and determination in the classroom, on the sporting field, in the yard and through their many leadership roles across the school. From supporting younger students, organising school events, representing our school with pride, and embracing every opportunity with enthusiasm, they have truly left a lasting legacy.
We are incredibly proud of each and every one of you. You leave Karingal with strong values, wonderful memories, lifelong friendships and the confidence to embrace new challenges. While we will miss seeing you in our classrooms and playgrounds, we are excited to watch you continue to grow and succeed in the next chapter of your journey.

Christmas Carols Evening – A Wonderful Way to Celebrate Together
What a beautiful and festive afternoon/evening we shared at our annual Karingal Primary School Christmas Carols! It was heart-warming to see our school grounds filled with families, friends and community members coming together to celebrate the joy of the season. The smiles, singing and community spirit truly made it a magical night.
Students did a sensational job with their Christmas performances, filling the evening with cheerful songs, festive actions and plenty of Christmas spirit. Our students sang with confidence and pride, and it was wonderful to see every child shine on stage.
We were also thrilled to be joined by the talented Two Bays Community Choir, whose performance added something truly special to our evening. A huge congratulations as well to our very own Karingal Glee Club for their fantastic performance – you made us incredibly proud!
A very special thank you to Mary and Miss Holmes for their time, dedication and passion in preparing all of our class performances so beautifully. Also to the KPS staff for encourgaing their students to be such wonderful performers.
A huge thank you to our amazing P&F for running a delicious BBQ and organising our Christmas raffle. Your hard work and generosity created such a wonderful atmosphere and provided a fantastic fundraising opportunity for our school. Congratulations to all of our raffle winners – we hope you enjoy your prizes!
Our Year 5/6 students also deserve a huge congratulations for running their market stalls on the night. The stalls were vibrant, creative and very popular, and it was wonderful to see our senior students demonstrating teamwork, responsibility and entrepreneurship. You did a fantastic job!
Finally, thank you to our entire community for coming along and sharing such a special evening with us. Your ongoing support and sense of belonging make Karingal Primary School the warm and welcoming place that it is. It was a perfect way to celebrate the end of the year and the joy of Christmas together.
Our Year 5/6 City Camp was truly a highlight of the year, filled with incredible experiences, challenges, laughter and lifelong memories. For families who would love to revisit the fun, camp photos from this amazing experience have now been added following below.
We encourage families to take some time to look through the photos and enjoy seeing the smiles, teamwork and adventures shared across the week.
What a fantastic snapshot of a very special learning experience for our senior students!
Last week brought some truly exciting moments for our students who were lucky enough to attend the Australian Open Golf Tournament at the prestigious Royal Melbourne Golf Course. The atmosphere was electric as they watched world-class golfers compete up close, taking in the skill, focus and sportsmanship on display.
Throughout the day, students spotted plenty of famous faces and enjoyed seeing elite athletes in action. A highlight for many was the chance to collect signatures and treasured memorabilia, making the experience even more memorable.
It was a wonderful opportunity for our students to be immersed in a major sporting event, learn more about the game of golf, and share a day filled with excitement and inspiration. What a fantastic experience for everyone involved!
Each year, our whole-school Christmas lunch stands out as one of the most anticipated and joyful events on the KPS calendar. It is a time when students, staff and special guests come together to share a meal, celebrate the festive season, and reflect on the achievements, challenges and growth that have shaped our school community throughout the year.
This wonderful tradition will be made even more special thanks to the generosity of Henry’s Bayside Mercato. Their donation of a wide selection of fresh, high-quality fruit and vegetables will bring vibrant colour, amazing freshness and a true sense of abundance to our festive table. From juicy melons and crisp greens to farm-fresh favourites, their produce will help create a bright and inviting feast for everyone to enjoy.
Henry’s Bayside Mercato's commitment to helping local families and community groups is truly appreciated. Their contribution not only enhances the experience for our students and staff but also reflects the spirit of giving and togetherness that sits at the heart of Christmas.
We are incredibly grateful for their generosity, and the genuine care they show for our KPS community. It is support like this that allows us to continue offering meaningful, memorable and inclusive events for our students.
Thank you, Henry’s Bayside Mercato, for helping make this year’s Christmas lunch a warm, joyful and nutritious celebration for all.
The Case of Miss Cooke’s Mystery ‘Ducker’… and the Naughty Elf!
Throughout the year, a mysterious and very sneaky surprise has been unfolding in the office of Miss Cooke. One by one, mini numbered ducks began appearing on her desk, shelves and in the most unexpected places. The identity of the secret “ducker” remained unknown for months, much to the amusement of students and staff alike!
The mystery reached its grand finale when Miss Cooke returned from her family holiday to discover her entire office completely filled with ducks – hundreds of them! The shock, the laughter and the cheers were priceless as the long-running mystery was finally revealed in spectacular Karingal fashion.
As if the ducks weren’t enough, they were quickly followed by the arrival of our Elf on the Shelf – who proved to be more naughty than nice! From cheeky setups to mischievous and yummy surprises, the elf kept everyone guessing and giggling right through the final weeks of term.
These light-hearted moments brought so much joy, laughter and fun to our school community and were a wonderful reminder of the playful spirit that makes Karingal such a special place to be. Thank you to our mystery “ducker” and our naughty elf for keeping the smiles going right to the very end of the year! ?
