What a busy and joy-filled fortnight we have had at Karingal Primary School!
Book Week Parade
Our Book Week Parade was a wonderful celebration of reading, imagination, and creativity. The combination of favourite book characters and Superheroes made the day extra special. It was fantastic to see so many families join us to share in the excitement and cheer on our students. Events like these remind us of the power of books to spark joy and bring our community together.
Working Bee
A huge thank you to the families who attended our recent Working Bee. Jobs such as mulch spreading, garden clean-ups, and general tidying were completed with enthusiasm and teamwork. The morning tea and friendly atmosphere made the day a real highlight. Marilyn was especially chuffed with the level of support, and the results are clearly visible across our school grounds.
Concert – Lights, Camera, Chaos!
Our 2025 school concert Lights, Camera, Chaos! was nothing short of outstanding. The energy, creativity, and confidence shown by our students left the audience in awe. Congratulations to our talented students, our supportive staff, and the families who cheered them on. Thank you to Miss Holmes and Martha Sensei who put the concert together from beginning to end.
I could not be prouder as your principal.
Year 56 Basketball Lightning Premiership
Congratulations also to our Year 5/6 Basketball teams who represented our school so well at the Lightning Premiership, showing fantastic teamwork and determination. They played their Lightning Premiership two days after starring in the concert.
Father’s Day
Finally, a very Happy Father’s Day to all the dads, grandfathers, and special persons/father figures in our community. Thank you for the love, support, and encouragement you give every day—it makes a world of difference to our children.
I look forward to seeing many of you tomorrow morning for our Father's Day Breakfast.
Long Service Leave
I would also like to let you know that I will be taking Long Service Leave for the first four weeks of Term 4. During this time, Mrs Schneider will be Acting Principal and I know she will do a wonderful job leading the school.
Thank you all for your continued support and for making Karingal Primary such a strong and connected community.
Stay safe and take care

2025 School Concert – A Night to Remember
What an incredible night our 2025 Concert was! From the very first note to the final bow, our students amazed us with their energy, creativity, and talent.
This year’s theme was extra special, chosen by our 2024 Year 5/6 students through collaboration and voting. After months of rehearsals, every class shone on stage — with dance moves practised not only at school but also in lounge rooms and kitchens at home!
Congratulations to all our students. Your confidence, teamwork, and resilience were outstanding and truly inspiring.
A special mention goes to our cameo performers — Rosa, Logan, Lachie, Billie, Charlee, Eliana, Indigo, Wyatt, Ruby W, Cailean, Tindra, Blessing, Florence, Ivan, and Memphis — who supported our main cast superbly.
Our main cast — Stella, Lyla, Ruby, and Aliah — were absolutely amazing, bringing their characters to life with confidence and flair.
All actors are to be congratulated on their exceptional performances. Their dedication, countless lunchtime rehearsals, and enthusiasm shone through in every moment on stage, making the production a joy for all who watched.
We sincerely thank our staff for their creativity, choreography, and support, and our families for their encouragement, costume organisation, and cheers.
A very special thank you goes to our teachers, Louise and Martha, whose vision, scriptwriting, and production work brought the concert together so brilliantly.
Our concert was more than a performance — it was a celebration of confidence, teamwork, and community spirit. We are so proud of every student who took the stage and grateful to our staff, families, and community for making it such a memorable night.
Thank You – Working Bee
A huge thank you to all the families who joined us for our recent Working Bee. Your time, effort, and teamwork made a real difference to our school grounds.
On the day, the 'Big Playground' garden area was tidied, fresh mulch was spread, and the space was given much-needed TLC.
The atmosphere was wonderful, with families working side by side and enjoying a lovely morning tea together.
The results speak for themselves — our school grounds are looking fantastic thanks to everyone’s hard work. Marilyn was absolutely chuffed with the amount of support and the positive community spirit on display.
Moving mulch and compost in the area outside the Community Room allowed Marilyn to work with the Year 6 students (the following week) whereby they planted new shrubs and grasses to create an area of their own. Dedicated to the Class of 2025.
We are so grateful for the support of our school community in creating a cleaner, safer, and more welcoming environment for our students.
Book Week Parade 2025 – Superhero Day
On Tuesday 19th August, Karingal Primary School celebrated Book Week 2025 with our much-loved Book Week Parade. As always, the theme was made extra exciting by combining it with Superhero Day.
Students came dressed as their favourite book characters or superheroes, filling the hall with colour, creativity, and imagination. From classic storybook figures to modern heroes, the costumes were fantastic, and it was clear how much effort students and families had put into bringing these characters to life.
The parade was a wonderful celebration of reading, storytelling, and the power of imagination. Events like this remind us that reading is not only important for learning but also a source of fun, joy, and inspiration.
A huge thank you to our families for helping prepare costumes and to our staff for making the day such a success.
Most of all, congratulations to our students — you were the real superheroes of the day!
KPS recently had the honour of hosting an inter-school chess competition, which brought together an impressive 155 students representing 18 schools from across the region. The event was a wonderful celebration of strategic thinking, concentration, and friendly competition, with each student displaying perseverance and enthusiasm throughout the day.
Our KPS team performed exceptionally well, demonstrating not only strong chess skills but also admirable teamwork and sportsmanship. We are delighted to share that our students achieved a 4th place finish overall, which is an outstanding result given the calibre of the competition. This accomplishment is a testament to their commitment and the many hours of practice they have dedicated to developing their game.
A special feature of the day was the introductory chess session delivered by Northern Star Chess for our Prep students. This engaging experience provided our youngest learners with their very first steps into the world of chess. It was inspiring to see their curiosity and excitement as they explored the basics of the game, sparking what we hope will become a lasting interest in this timeless pursuit.
We extend our sincere thanks to Northern Star Chess for their continued partnership and support, as well as to the participating schools for contributing to the success of the competition. Most importantly, we congratulate our KPS students for representing our school with pride, resilience, and respect.
Events such as this not only celebrate individual and team achievement but also reflect the broader values of learning, problem-solving, and community that we hold so highly at KPS.

Tamikah was presented the award by Cr Georgina Oxley - Mayor of City of Kingston.
Cr Georgina Oxley even asked Tamikah if she would sell her art piece, as she would love to buy it.
Tamikah made her art piece during Naidoc week when she attended an emu egg carving course.
She engraved a variety of Aboriginal symbols that are meaningful to her. Tamikah also sewed together some possum skin scraps to cover the stand and added some emu feathers.
Karingal PS is very proud of you Tamikah.

Friday 12th September will be Karingal PS Footy Day.
Students will participate in a 'Footy Parade' on the basketball court (weather permitting) and have fun in activities throughout the day.
Students are asked to come dressed in their favourite football team and/or colours.
As always, if students do not follow an AFL team, they are welcome to wear their sporting team code uniform/colours.
Please make sure you have ordered your hot food lunch for your child.
