Principal News - 14th March, 2025

Dear KPS Families

Welcome to Autumn and the weather being hotter for a longer period than what it was in Summer!!!

NAPLAN
It's that time of the year where our Year 3 and 5 students are participating in the NAPLAN testing. NAPLAN testing will started on Wednesday 12th March and concludes Friday 21st March. Our teachers have been working hard with our students to prepare them to do their best in the testing.

TUESDAY 11th MARCH: CURRICULUM DAY

On Tuesday 11th March, our school had a Curriculum day. KPS staff were joined by staff from our neighbouring schools to participate in professional development on the Science of Learning, Cognitive Load Theory and Wellbeing practices. Bringing the four cluster schools together to collaborate is always a positive experience.

Our Year 6 leaders took time out of their day to present fun activities they learnt through 'The School of Play' session they had the opportunity to participate in. Our leaders were extremely impressive and all staff participated excitedly in their games. Congratulations to our leaders who we are very proud of.

PICTURE PLATES FUNDRAISER
A reminder to order your Picture Plate Products. Drawings for students will be happening on Thursday 20th March. Please make sure you have completed your order by Wednesday 19th March.

FAMILY FUN AFTERNOON
Once again, our Family Fun Afternoon was a wonderful event. It was extremely pleasing to see a large amount of families joining in, completing the activities and enjoying their time.

Thank you to our Year 6 leaders for organising and running the events. Thank you to staff who attended and supported and thank you to families who participated in the fun!

SCHOOL COUNCIL ELECTIONS
School Council elections have closed.

I would like to congratulate May Toh, Karen Gibbs and Breigh DeWolf for being selected on School Council.

TERM 1 ENDS
Term 1 finishes on Friday 4th April. It is a 2.30pm finish.
Term 2 begins on Tuesday 22nd April at 9am.

Stay safe and take care

Family Fun Afternoon

We all showed KINDNESS at our Family Fun Afternoon on Wednesday.

What a wonderful afternoon to enjoy after a long weekend. We had a lot of families joining in the fun activities of dancing, rice and chopsticks, water buckets, tissue box shaking, ball bouncing, oreo biscuits and tennis ball heads!

We even saw familiar faces of our ex students!

Thank you to our Year 6 students (Billie, Blessing, Rosa, Logan, Eliana, Aleena, Cailean, Stella, Lyla, Brock, Memphis, Harlee and Airlia) for organising and running the events. Thank you to staff who attended and supported and thank you to families who participated in the fun!

All entries have gone into the prize box and will be drawn at assembly next week.

Garden Update 140325 from Marilyn

Our Vision: "To engage our students to Sow, Grow, Nurture and Harvest!"

We are certainly fulfilling all of the above!

Trees, shrubs, herbs and flowers recently purchased as part of our award voucher are thriving!

We are most grateful to Pete and Lee from Coolart Nursery for their advice and guidance in selecting plants most suited to our needs.

We also received an amazing donation of dozens of trays of seedlings from wholesalers Oasis Horticulture!

I happily filled my boot, back and front seats with a variety of herbs, salad and wok combos including kale, bok choy, spring onion and lettuce and snow peas as well as sweet peas, poppies, lobelia and nasturtium to name just a few.

Special thanks to Jaydene and her team for their support! (see photos).

Last week Julie, Emily, Jo and I spread a truckload of mulch over the "Grass Garden" (including new trees) having now created some paths for the children to meander through! Morning tea (including delicious chocolate cake) allowed us to sit and admire the end result with great satisfaction...

Another thank you; this time to Morrison (my Grandson), Ryan and Cyd who helped to line and fill our remaing two apple crates with soil ready for planting. They were all awesome! (see photos)

We now have all four crates planted up, the last done today by Grade 4 students who also enjoyed picking and tasting some of our herbs and even a few strawberries!

As always we invite you to visit the garden to share the joy of our Budding Gardeners who are so proud of the beautiful space we have created together...
