Quote of the week:
"In every Gardener is a child who loves to play in the dirt. In every child is a Gardener ready to grow!"
And then there were four!!
Yesterday Julie and I welcomed Jo and Emily to our team!! We had an amazing productive morning spreading mulch (with our wonky wheelbarrow) in the Fairy Garden, pea straw over our new salad and herb mix bed, preparing garden beds for new plants and of course watering and planting with the children!
We made time to enjoy a delicious morning tea laid out on a tablecloth while we planned our tasks for the morning...
Last week Julie and I were excited to finally collect a number of Native trees and shrubs with our voucher awarded by Vic School Gardens Program last year!
We also included herbs, salad greens as well as some annuals and bags of potting mix and compost; the remainder to be spent on vegetables and fruit trees in early Autumn...
The new trees and shrubs are already planted and we can care for them and watch them grow over the coming weeks. Our lovely feature trees are Agonis "Pink Flamingo" with bright pink leaves which add colour and movement to the garden!
Many thanks to Simon (Sophie and Tom's Dad) for his contribution of various materials for the garden all of which will be put to good use and much appreciated!
We have a delivery of mulch arriving early next Wednesday and would love some help to spread it. If you are free to help please bring gardening gloves and a spade if possible!
Kind regards
Marilyn

The Victorian Government is delivering the School Saving Bonus (SSB) – a one-off support of $400 for eligible government school students from Prep to Year 12 in 2025.
The SSB helps families cover the cost of uniforms, textbooks, excursions, activities and more.
Most families have now received their SSB code(s). I encourage you to take advantage of this government support.
To learn more about the SSB online system, download the step-by-step System guide for parents and carers. System guide translations are also available in 14 languages. DOWNLOAD GUIDE HERE
If you would like to use your bonus for school activities, you can allocate some or all of the bonus using the School Saving Bonus online system.
If you have only recently completed your enrolment into the Victorian government school system you can expect to receive your SSB code(s) in the coming weeks.
If you have transferred to our school from another Victorian government school, any remaining funds on your SSB code(s) will soon be available to use at our approved school suppliers. We request your patience as this change is processed.
The Department of Education has established a dedicated contact centre to support the SSB. The contact centre can be reached by:
* completing the School Saving Bonus enquiry form
* calling 1800 338 663, between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm on weekdays.
Thanking you
Samantha Cooke
