Principal News - 15th November, 2024

Dear KPS Families

As of today, we are officially on the downhill slide towards Christmas. There are only five weeks of school left for 2024. 25 days. It is hard to believe. I hope you all had a lovely long weekend last weekend and took some time to refresh yourselves.

Montessori Recognition Awards
On Saturday 2nd November, I, along with Miss G, had the privilege to accompany Deirdre and Fiona to the Montessori Living Legends Awards in Sydney. It was a wonderful night and Deirdre and Fiona walked away as finalists in their award categories. It was lovely to witness them both being recognised for the outstanding contribution they make to the Montessori curriculum at Karingal PS. Congratulations ladies.

Karingal's Got Talent
Last Friday morning we saw the very best of Karingal with our finale to Karingal's Got Talent. It was a star studded spectacular of singing, dancing and magic. Congratulations to all students who performed in the finale, and to students who auditioned. Karingal PS has so much talent!

State Chess Finals
Congratulations to Cohen who has made it through to the State Chess Finals and will be represenitng Karingal PS. Good luck Cohen. A fantastic acheivement.

Remembrance Day
Our Year 6 student leaders represented Karingal PS at the Frankston RSL Remembrance Day Service. It is always an honour for our students to participate in the ceremony and listen to speeches delivered by representatives from our local community about the importance of remembering those who have served our country. Back at school our community paused for a minute silence and listened to the sounds of the Last Post. LEST WE FORGET.

Take care and stay safe

Montessori Living Legends Awards

We are super proud of Deirdre and Fiona...our AMAZING Montessori educators.

Deirdre and Fiona were nominated for awards in the Montessori Education system.

They joined other Montessori educators in Sydney at the awards ceremony and spent a truly inspiring evening dedicated to celebrating the passion, dedication and achievements within the Montessori community. It was a night to remember, bringing together educators, adminstrators, and advocates who exemplify the Montessori spirit.

We are excited to announce that they were both finalists in their categories.

Deirdre was a finalist in the Business and Administrator category, recognised as an outstanindg leader of our Montessori stream of Education. Fiona was a finalist in the Quiet Achiever category, honouring her as a quiet yet powerful force in Montessori education, with often unseen efforts that have shaped the lives of countless children.

We are very privileged to have these two amazing educators as part of our team delivering our Montessori program.

Remembrance Day

Our school leaders had the privilege of attending the Frankston RSL Remembrance Day Service.

Our students represented us superbly and listened to speeches delivered by representatives from our local community about the importance of remembering those who have served our country.

Back at school our community paused for a minutes silence and listened to the haunting sounds of the last post.

Today we remember all those who have served our country both past, present and future.

Lest we forget

Community Garden 15/11/24

"Magic Happens in the Garden!"

Such excitement on Friday as we gathered to pick our first strawberries which were small but delicious! We also picked our first tiny carrots (not quite enough to share this time)...

Our Sunflowers are ready for transplanting into one of the apple crates but the rain kept students indoors during the week; hopefully the rain will stay away we'll do this soon so we can watch them grow over coming weeks...

Nathanael and Tom's watermelon seedlings are growing so fast that they too need to be planted out very soon so they can spread!

Some of the students helped me to make a couple of arches between our herb planter boxes...They looked great but then we decided to make them even prettier by decorating them with beautiful little posies of Lavender, Sweet Peas, Pansies and Freesias!

The students are so proud and eager to show what they've been planting and hope you will visit us in our garden very soon!

Thank you Bree for the beautiful windmill which will be assembled and added to the Butterfly Border next week.

Thank you to Brian (Morrison and Mabel's Pop) for picking up and delivering bags of potting mix as well as branches which will be used in our new nature playground.
