Principal News - 6th September, 2024

Dear Parents/Carers

We have had a HUGE couple of weeks which have been extremely rewarding.

School Concert
Last week, Wednesday 28th August, we celebrated our KPS school concert called 'May Day'. The students put on a remarkable performance and I am so very proud of each and every one of them.

'May Day' was based on an original idea by one of our main cast members  (Zoe Power) and was influenced by our whole school theme of ‘Reach for the Stars’.

Credit needs to be given to the following students for their main/cameo roles in the concert. These students have been rehearsing (at school and at home) and giving up their lunchtimes since last term. They are also current and possible future school leaders with many other responsibilities and embraced the challenge of a cast role.

The main cast:

  • The twins:
    • Star – Adele T
    • Astra – Zoe W
  • Nova – Layne W
  • Aylin – Zoe P
  • Perseus – Reilly DeW
  • Calypso – Aurora K

Joining the main cast are the cameo roles:

  • Buzz Light Year – Marlee S
  • Wall-E – Brock G
  • Lady Moonlight – Maki C
  • Little Luna – Abbie R
  • ET – Stella J
  • Princess Leia – Eliana W, played by River P on the night
  • Yoda – Sam M
  • Luke Sky Water – Dillan N
  • Hans Solo – Morrison W
  • Spock – Ivy R
  • Super Girl – Lucy B
  • Rocket Racoon – Logan S
  • Dr Who #1 – Amara E
  • Dr Who #2 – Mackenzie K
  • Dr Who #3 – Emily V
  • Dr Brown – King S

I would also like to make special mention and thank yous to the following people:

  • Theo Y – music advisor
  • Atticus F – Props advisor
  • Ms Vine, Martha Sensei and Vicky – props and costumes
  • Breigh, Marilyn, Rhian, Julie, Helen and working bee helpers – props and costumes
  • KPS staff – teachers and ES who have supported each other and students to put on the polished performance. Every child at Karingal played some role in the performance, whether on stage, back stage, props and/or general support.

Last but not least, 'May Day' would not have been possible without two ladies – Miss Holmes and Mary. There are not enough words to describe the dedication and passion that they bring to putting on this performance. Thank you and congratulations.

At Karingal Primary School we believe all our children truly shine and achieve remarkable accomplishments. Our students are shining stars in every possible way.

Father's Day Stall and Breakfast
Our Father's Day stall was on Friday 30th August. Thank you to Rachael F for organising the stall and to her support crew for setting up and running the stall seamlessly.

The KPS annual Father's Day breakfast was held on Saturday 31st August. We had a wonderful turnout of the community and it was lovely to see so many adults come together with their children and enjoy a Saturday morning at school. The weather was even kind to us!

Thank you to Mrs Schneider, Mr C, Fiona and David S (Eliana's dad) for providing a yummy bbq breakfast accompanied with hot chocolate and coffee.

I hope all fathers/special persons had a fantastic Father's Day.

Year 34
Camp
Currently, our Year 3 and 4 students are about to finish up (for many) their very first camp. They had the privilege to go to Camp Manyung and have had a wonderful 3 days.
Thank you to Mr C for organising the camp and experience for our students, and to Mrs Schneider, Mrs Angelico, Mrs Quirk, Carol and Georgia F for supporting Mr C and attending the camp with him.

Parent/Teacher/Student Interviews
Next week we will be having our Parent/Teacher/Student interviews. Please look out on the COMPASS app to book your interview. Teachers will make their time availabe on the COMPASS app whereby you can book in easily. No more paper!!

COMPASS
School Management System

As you are aware, Karingal PS has been transitioning to a new School Management System named COMPASS.

COMPASS will be the platform whereby all information will be provided. As of Term 4, there will be no School Stream or paper notices sent home.

Thank you to the many parents who have registered on the COMPASS Parent Portal. If you have not yet done so, please do so ASAP with the parent letter containing your individual pin to log in. If you need this printed again, please contact the office.

As always, support will also be available to anyone who requires it.

Term 3 finishes at 2.30pm on Friday 20th September.

Take care and stay safe

We are incredibly proud of our students and their performances; each and evryone of them shone on the stage.

A HUGE thank you to our Performing Arts teachers Mary and Miss Holmes for all their hard work and also to our fabulous stars of teachers and ES for their dedication and bringing everything together.

To our main cast and cameo performers; all of your hard work and committment over the past few months has paid off...you were all amazing performers.

Thank you to our many parents who helped with props and costumes in their own time and/or at the working bee. Your support was greatly appreciated.

Lastly, thank you to our school community for coming out to watch our performance...we couldn't do this without you.
