We have been so busy these past couple of weeks and our Garden Club is growing as fast and as happily as our herbs and flowers!
We recently planted a number of trees and shrubs near the Fairy Garden as part of Tree Planting Day. We then made guards to protect them and had fun mulching; everyone taking turns with the wonky wheelbarrow!
After patiently waiting for our bulbs to sprout, the children were delighted to welcome our first Daffodils!
There was also much excitement when our first Snow Peas were spotted, carefully picked and shared, but we'll need to plant many more for all to enjoy...
Many thanks to Phil (Grandfather to Morrison and Mabel) who with his friend Dave, recently delivered and installed four beautiful apple crates taking pride of place in the garden! Soon we'll plant salad greens, tomatoes, cucumbers, beans and carrots as well as berries.
A little note of thanks also to Vicky for sharing some of her amazing succulent collection now settling into The Rockery; much appreciated!
Last week we welcomed Julie who joined us in the Community Garden bringing with her baskets of beautiful plants to add to The Butterfly Garden!
Feel free to join us in the garden on Wednesdays or Thursdays...

Monash Health South East Public Health and the Gippsland Region Public Health Units have been notified of several outbreaks of whooping cough (pertussis) in schools in their local areas.
Primary schools must not allow a child with whooping cough to attend the school for 21 days after the onset of cough or until they have completed 5 days of a course of antibiotic treatment.
Contacts aged younger than 7 years who are in the same classroom as a confirmed whooping cough case, and who have not received 3 doses of pertussis vaccine, should also be excluded for 14 days from after they were last exposed to a person diagnosed with whooping cough, or until they have completed 5 days of a course of antibiotic treatment. These requirements are in accordance with the Department of Health’s School Exclusion table.
Vaccination and Standard Precautions
Vaccination is the most important preventive measure against whooping cough as it reduces the risk of infection and severe illness. Vaccination also protects the most vulnerable – infants aged 6 months and under. It is recommended staff and students stay up-to-date with their vaccinations, including booster doses and seek medical attention early if whooping cough symptoms occur. A free booster dose of pertussis (dTpa) is covered under the national immunisation program (NIP) for adolescents aged 12-13 years of age/year 7 secondary schools.
Schools are also asked to encourage all students to stay home if sick, practice good hand hygiene, cover their cough and dispose of tissues in a bin.
