Principal News - 10th May, 2024

Dear Parents/Carers

We can definitely feel Winter is coming. The cold is hitting us. I hope everybody is savouring the last rays of sunshine!!

Uniforms
A notice was sent home last week to remind students/parents/carers of our uniform expectations. We are proud to be a part of Karingal Primary School and therefore proud to wear full school uniform. This includes no jewellery (apart from sleepers/studs) and hair tied back if it is below shoulder length. If a student wears a non school specific piece of clothing, we are happy to swap if for the day for a uniformed item.

Illness
We appreciate your support in keeping your child at home if they are showing visible signs of sickness. Even though attendance at school is vital, sometimes sickness cannot be avoided. We have vulnerable children at school who have auto immune deficiences, as well as staff who need to be at their healthiest to run their teaching and learning programs.

Year 6 Play Leaders Training
I was fortunate to supervise the Year 6 leaders participating in a Play Leaders training day. They were very engaged in the activities and learnt a lot of new games to organise with our younger students.

District Field Athletics
Karingal PS were proudly represented by a number of our Year 3-6 students at the District Athletics last week. We had a lot of first, second and third placed students.
Some students qualified for the next round. Congratulations to all students who participated.

Happy Mother's/Special Persons Day
I would like to wish all mother's/special persons a Happy Mother's day on Sunday. Thank you for everything you do as a role model. Enjoy your day and I hope you are pampered.
I look forward to seeing mother's/special persons at our school morning tea on Monday at 10.30am.

Halfway to 100 Days of Prep

We have reached the halfway point to 100 days of prep ... ... so we decided to surprise them with a celebration day full of halves. Why were our teachers missing half of their pyjamas? Where was the other half of the cake? Who ate half of the pizzas? It was a fabulous day full of fractions, measurement, problem-solving, and great laughter!

Year 6 Play Leaders Training

Last Monday, our Year 6 student leaders participated in Play Leaders Training.

This training was a full one-day training program for our Year 6 student leaders. Through the program training, student leaders learnt how to facilitate safe and fun games for other students, including younger students, at school during lunch times and recess throughout the year.

The program provided a platform for students to support each other, practice positive values, take responsibility and develop their leadership abilities.

2024 School Concert: MAYDAY

Dear Families,

In this year’s concert, the children will take you on a journey through all your favourite Science Fiction Movies, singing and dancing on every planet they visit.

We are starting early this year; rehearsals are already underway and we are thinking about props and costumes.

Many of the costumes we need are those dress-ups that you may have bought for a fancy dress party once, and then put them in the back of the cupboard.

If you think you may have a pair of Spock ears or a light sabre lurking around at home which you could lend us or donate to the props and costume department, please bring them into school and drop them off at the Music room.

Here is a wish list of the costumes we would like –

  • Buzz Lightyear – children’s sizes and adult
  • Wall-E – robot costumes - children’s sizes
  • E.T. - children’s sizes and adult
  • Star Wars – costumes and props – all characters, Jedi, Yoda, Storm Trouper etc …
  • Star Trek – Enterprise uniforms, Vulcan ears, Klingon masks etc …
  • Dr Who – the Toymaker (19th century soldier- Red Coat), Daleks, Cybermen etc …
  • Superman/girl – costumes or T shirts
  • Guardians of the Galaxy – all characters or Marvel comic heroes
  • Back to the future – Doc Brown
  • Prisoner/convict costumes

Performance date for your diary:

Wednesday – 28th August – 7pm

Frankston Arts Centre

With your support this concert will be an epic adventure – Mary and Louise
