Principal News - 8th March, 2024

Dear KPS Families

Welcome to the start of Autumn and the weather being hotter than what it was in Summer!!!

I had the privilege last week to attend the Bayside Peninsula Principal's Conference and listen to guest speakers including Mark Corrie and Mitch Tambo. Both speakers had a focus on commitment to social change and building authentic relationships and culture; all of which we value very highly at Karingal.

Family Fun Afternoon
Once again, our Famiy Fun Afternoon was a wonderful way to finish off the week last Friday. It was extremely pleasing to see a large amount of families joining in, completing the activites and enjoying their time. It was also lovely to see some of our old students return and participate.

The prizes will be drawn at assembly next week. The following prizes will be drawn out:
IST PRIZE: $100 Woolies gift card.
2ND PRIZE: $75 Village voucher.
3RD PRIZE: $50 Rashays voucher.

We appreciate the support of Karingal Hub and Camp Australia with their generous donations for the prizes.

Thank you students from Years 5 and 6 (Reilly, Aurora, Jade, Paige, Zarah, Sophie, Locky, Lucy, Adele, Kim, Eliana and Stella) for organising and running the events. Thank you to staff who attended and supported and thank you to families who participated in the fun!

Good luck for the prize draw.

Prep Students
As of this week, our Preps attend school every day. Their testing is completed and they are officially at 'big school'. We once again welcome our 2024 Prep students.

NAPLAN

It's that time of the year where our Year 3 and 5 students will be participating in the NAPLAN testing. NAPLAN testing will start on Wednesday 13th March and conclude Friday 22nd March. Our teachers have been working hard with our students to prepare them to do their best in the testing.

School Council Elections
Nominations to be a part of School Council have closed. Thank you to the parents/carers/staff who have submitted their nomination.

It is very excititng to receive more nominations than positions available. Due to this, we will be going to a ballot. Next week, information on candidates will be sent home, along with instructions on how to vote. Every vote counts. Please take the time to complete the ballot.

Monday 11th March and Tuesday 12th March
Please remember Monday (11th March) is a Public holiday and Tuesday (12th March) is a Curriculum Day. I look forward to seeing everybody back at school on Wednesday.

Enjoy your long weekend and stay safe.
