Karingal Primary School acknowledges the traditional owners of the lands on which the school sits. We recognise their continuing connection to the land and waters and thank them for protecting this coastline and its ecosystems since time immemorial.

Our students bought joy (and a few tears) to the faces of residents as they performed some Christmas songs for the residents and staff of the aged care home.
At least one resident commented they had forgotten how much FUN little events like this could be. Many of the residents commented on how well behaved and talented our students are.
After their performance the students gave each of the residents Christmas cards that they had made along with a Christmas cookie.
Mayor, Nathan Conroy, also joined us and was impressed at the calibre of the performance and with just how courteous our students were.
Our students should be pleased with how well they conducted themselves and for bringing so much cheer and enjoyment to the residents and staff.
WELL DONE KPS!

The mural outside the staff room is complete...
Thank you to the hard work of Aunty Kazza Gibbs, Jade Coombes, Bec Woodman and Jazmin Knight.
Aunty Kazza explains what each part of the mural represents:
The centre represents the school, the hub of learning. From there it branches out to the families with strong connections and is surrounded by the symbol for children who are all supported by the hub with strong connections. On the sides we have the trees of knowledge with the fingerprints of all the students and the handprints of the teachers to show we are all connected.
A reminder that the Department of Education has in place a mobile phone ban that requires students who bring mobiles phones to school to have them switched off and securely put away during school hours.
The department is requiring all schools to ensure this ban is in place and enforced from the start of the 2024 school year.
The ban applies equally to all government schools right across the state.
This helps ensure that school is a learning environment free from unnecessary distractions and disruptions.
By ensuring mobile phones are kept away at recess and lunch times, students can interact with each other face-to-face, without the distractions and social pressures that mobile phones can cause.
We ask for the support of all our families, staff and students in continuing to support the implementation of this policy in our school.
Further information
Exceptions: For a small number of students with particular health needs, an exception to the policy may be granted.
Emergencies: In the event of an emergency or if you need to immediately contact your child, I ask that families contact the school office who will pass on a message as required.
School mobile phone policy: A copy of our school’s local mobile phone policy, which implements the government’s mobile policy in line with our local context, is available on our school website.
Parent support: The Mobile phones in schools webpage provides links to resources for families to help them balance their children’s time using mobile phones.
If you have further questions, please contact the administration office.
