Principal (Acting) News - 18th August, 2023

Dear Parents/Carers

We have passed 'hump' week in the term and are officially heading downhill towards holidays.

SMOKING CEREMONY
We were honoured to participate in a smoking ceremony last Friday as part of our assembly. Thank you to Gillian and Josh for taking their time to come to our school to perform the ceremony.

HARMONY and FRIENDSHIP DAY

Our Annual Harmony and Friendship Day took place yesterday, whereby we recognise and stamp out bullying and violence, whilst celebrating culture and diversity. Students enjoyed the day participating in activities and having pizza for a special hot food lunch.
Thank you to Breigh DW and her team of helpers for organising the hot food lunch.

SCHOOL CONCERT
Our School Concert is on Monday night. Mary and Louise, along with their numerous parent helpers, have put in an enormous amount of work to secure costumes and props and getting the students ready. I have no doubt this year will be even better than last year.  The Frankston Arts Center is nearly sold out and a raffle prize of Gold Class tickets will be drawn on the night. Classroom teachers are supporting Mary and Louise and also our invaluable parent community who have offered so much of their time and resources. As always, it is very much a team effort. Everyone is very excited.

CURRICULUM DAY
Tuesday 22nd August students will not be required to attend school. Staff will be participating in Professional Development. I think all students will enjoy the day away from school after a big night at the school concert.

CHESS TOURNAMENT
Karingal Primary School will be hosting a chess tournament on Wednesday 23rd August. If you have not already signed up for this, please do so.

FATHER'S/SPECIAL PERSONS DAY
* Father's Day stall will be on Friday 1st September. Please make sure your child/ren bring some money to buy a present.
* The Father's Day raffle will be drawn at Assembly on Friday 1st September. Please make sure you have bought your tickets. Another wonderful prize will be on offer.
* Father's Day breakfast will be on Saturday 2nd September. We would love to see as many father's/special persons with their child/ren attend breakfast.

PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES
Parent/teacher/student conferences will be held Monday 4th September and Wednesday 6th September. Please look out for further communication which will be sent home.

BOOK WEEK/SUPERHERO DAY
Karingal PS will celebrate Book Week in Week 9. It has been a decision to combine the Book Week Parade with the Superhero Day Parade. Book Week activities will also take place during Week 9.

AN EVENING WITH ADELE
Our talented student Adele, in an effort to raise money for a school fundraiser, will be performing a number of her favourite cover songs from Ed Sheeran, Beyonce, Lady Gaga just to name a few... Proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to our school, to assist with the costs of resurfacing the Basketball Court. Adele will be performing at 239a Beach St, Frankston, on Saturday 9th September, 6-7.30 pm. Tickets are $15 and we would love to see as many members from our school community as possible to support Adele.

SCHOOL REVIEW
The key directions for Karingal Primary School (4922)'s next School Strategic Plan (SSP) have been extracted from the final school review report and entered into SPOT by the Improvement Support Unit at central office.

We are now ready to commence consultation with our school community and finalise the new SSP.

Tinsa Johny from the School Compliance Unit will be visiting on Wednesday 23rd August to do a final completion of the Child Safe Standards.

Take care

Concert Day Arrangements - Monday 21st August, 2023

Please read the below information carfefully...
Concert Information – Monday 21st August

Dear Parents, Carers and Families
The concert day is almost here and the dances and costumes are looking good.

Monday - daytime
Monday during the day, all students who are in the Concert will be shuttled by bus to the Frankston Arts Centre for a run through of their dance on the stage. Please make sure you have returned their permission slip for the bus. Students DO NOT need their costumes for Monday’s day time run through.

Monday - night
Monday night, children will need to be dropped off at 6.30pm in costume. The children will take their own or a borrowed costume home to change into before arriving.
Only the Main Cast members should arrive earlier at 6pm.
Children should be dropped off to the Stage Door Gate to be signed in with their class teacher.
The Stage Door Gate is to the right of the main Arts Centre Entry and around the side of the building, behind the loading bay.

Parent, carers or responsible adults are expected to stay for the whole concert but are not allowed backstage before, during or after the concert.  If you have to take your child home early, this MUST be pre-arranged with the school before the Concert. They will be brought out to the foyer for collection, but this will mean that your child will miss the finale whole school song on stage.

At the end of the Concert Senior students (M3A, 5/6A, 5/6B, 3/4A & 3/4B) will be ready to be signed off with their teacher and collected from the Stage Door Gate.
Junior students (M23, M12, 1/2A, P1/A & PA) will be brought to the main foyer by their class teacher to be collected and signed off.
Please make sure the class teacher knows that you have collected your child and signed them off their class list.

William's Birthday Wish Update

An update on William's Birthday wish. William (34B) decided that as he didn't need anything for his birthday that he would like it if his mum could purchase blankets to give to the homeless as it was freezing.

William appealed to our school community to assist by donating blankets, warm jackets, and other items.

Our school community showed just how AMAZING, GENEROUS and CARING we are.

William has quite the collection of items to donate to those in need.

A HUGE THANK YOU to WILLIAM and the Karingal Primary School community
