SubscribePROFESSIONAL PRACTICE DAY 10th MARCH 2023
On the student free day, staff participated in Part 2 of the Little Learners Love Literacy program. Little Learners Love Literacy® resources and professional learning workshops support explicit and systematic teaching of reading and spelling. Children learn at a quicker rate if they are taught systematically and explicitly using a synthetic phonics and a structured literacy approach. They know what they are learning and can verbalise it.
NAPLAN 2023.
A huge congratulations to all the Grade 3 and 5 students who have completed NAPLAN. It has been amazing to see the concentration on their faces and watching them all working so hard to do their best. The grade 3 students who had never experienced NAPLAN became professionals at logging on and using the online platform. The grade 5 students who completed the testing 2 years ago buzzed through the process easily.
Preps 2024
We have had a swarm of prospective parents touring our school at the moment. I have been buzzing here, there and everywhere, showing them how fabulous the students and staff are at Karingal Primary and how delightful our hive will be when the building works are finally complete. Keep spreading the positive pollen!
Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships (RRRR)
The Royal Commission into Family Violence identified the critical role that schools and early childhood education have in creating a culture of respect to change the story of family violence for future generation.
Respectful Relationships Education has become a core component of the Victorian Curriculum for Foundation to Year 12, and is being taught, or beginning to be taught in all government and Catholic schools.
Everyone in our community deserves to be respected, valued and treated equally. We know that changes in attitudes and behaviors can be achieved when positive attitudes, behavior and equality are embedded in our education settings.
The Respectful Relationships Education is about embedding a culture of respect and equality across the entire community, from our classrooms to the staff rooms, sporting fields and social events. This approach leads to positive impacts on a student’s academic outcomes, their mental health, classroom behavior and relationships between teachers and students.
The Staff at Karingal Primary have had Professional Development in the RRRR Program and will begin implementing in Term 2 this year. If you have any questions about the program, feel free to contact me or you may head to the Department of Education and Training website: www.education.vic.gov.au/respectfulrelationships
I will send an information leaflet home next week, with a bit more detail about the program.
