Welcome to Term 3.

It has been wonderful to see our students return to school so positively this term. Classrooms are buzzing with learning, students are settled into routines, and there is a real sense of enthusiasm across our school. Thank you to our families for your continued partnership and support—we truly value working together to ensure every child has the opportunity to thrive.

Parent-Teacher Interviews
A huge thank you to all of our families who attended our Parent-Teacher Interviews on our recent Student-Free Day. It was fantastic to see such a strong response, with so many parents and carers taking the opportunity to meet with teachers to celebrate achievements, discuss progress and set goals for the semester ahead.

Strong partnerships between home and school are one of the greatest contributors to student success. We greatly appreciate the time families invest in these conversations and thank you for your ongoing support of your child's learning.

Industrial Action
I would also like to sincerely thank our families for their understanding and support during the recent industrial action. We appreciate that changes to normal school operations can be challenging for families, and we are grateful for the patience, flexibility and kindness shown by our school community throughout this time.

Science Fair & Spooky Science Night
What an incredible evening we shared at our Science Fair and Spooky Science Night! Congratulations to every student who participated in the Science Fair by presenting a project, investigation or experiment. The creativity, curiosity and confidence displayed by our young scientists was truly impressive, and it was wonderful to see them proudly sharing their learning with our community.

Our evening was made even more exciting thanks to the engaging Spooky Science presentations delivered by Swinburne University, which had students and families amazed by a range of hands-on experiments and demonstrations.

A special thank you to our parent helpers and teaching staff for supporting students with their projects and giving up their evening to ensure the event was such a success.

Attendance Matters
It has been wonderful to see our new 20-Day Attendance Streak initiative already having a positive impact across the school. We are seeing students making an extra effort to attend school every day, celebrating their attendance milestones and encouraging one another to keep their streak going.

Every day at school counts. Regular attendance supports learning, builds friendships and helps students feel connected to their school community. Thank you to our families for partnering with us to make school attendance a priority.

100 Days of Prep
One of our favourite celebrations is just around the corner as our Prep students prepare to celebrate 100 Days of School. This special milestone recognises 100 days of learning, growing and making new friendships. We look forward to seeing our Prep students participate in a range of exciting activities as they celebrate everything they have achieved during their first 100 days of primary school.

Prep Enrolments for 2026
A reminder to families that Prep enrolment applications for 2026 close on Friday 31 July. If you have a child starting school next year, or know someone who is considering Karingal Primary School, please ensure applications are submitted before the closing date. We look forward to welcoming our newest learners to our school community.

School Concert
Excitement is continuing to build for our annual School Concert. Ticket sales have been incredibly strong and are selling quickly. If you haven't yet secured your tickets, we encourage you to do so as soon as possible to avoid missing out on what promises to be another outstanding performance showcasing the talents of our students.

Welcoming Our School Chaplain
We are delighted to welcome Jade Toogood-Rogers to Karingal Primary School as our new School Chaplain through Korus Connect.

Korus Connect has been supporting Australian school communities through chaplaincy services since 1955, providing an additional layer of wellbeing support for students, families and staff. Jade's role at Karingal Primary School is centred on building positive relationships, supporting student wellbeing and contributing to a caring, inclusive and connected school community.

Students may see Jade around the school, in classrooms, at lunchtime activities and supporting whole-school wellbeing initiatives. We are excited to have Jade join our team and look forward to the positive contribution she will make to our school community.

What a fantastic evening we shared at our Science Fair and Spooky Science Night! It was wonderful to see so many students and families celebrate curiosity, creativity and a love of learning.

A huge congratulations to all of the students who proudly participated in our Science Fair. Whether they designed an investigation, created a model or demonstrated a scientific experiment, every student should be incredibly proud of the effort, problem-solving and enthusiasm they displayed. It was inspiring to see our young scientists confidently sharing their knowledge and discoveries with our school community.

Following the Science Fair, families enjoyed the exciting Spooky Science sessions presented by Swinburne University. The hands-on activities, amazing demonstrations and interactive experiments captivated students of all ages and sparked plenty of curiosity and wonder.

A sincere thank you to May, Kazza, Rhian, Christine, Jess, Maggie and Jeff for generously volunteering their time to prepare, cook and serve food throughout the evening. Your hard work ensured our families were well looked after and helped make the event such a success.

Thank you also to our dedicated teaching staff for supporting students in preparing their Science Fair projects and for giving up their evening to attend and assist throughout the event. Your encouragement and commitment created a memorable learning experience for our students.

 Our Garden Path... 

EXCITING NEWS!

We are fortunate and grateful to have received a further grant from the PK Country Golf Club (Skye Road)!

With the support and generosity of the PK Foundation in 2025 we created an entire new Montessori Garden which is a thriving hub near the big playground and its continued support will now allow us to progress to Phase 2 of our plan to establish a productive, interactive and sensory outdoor classroom for all students to enjoy!

WORKING BEE

We say a huge thank you to those who attended our Working Bee on Sunday June 21 (including a couple of former students!). The weather was perfect for the occasion allowing us to complete a number of tasks while enjoying a little sunshine to further boost our energy.

New garden beds were prepared with compost and mulch ready for students to plant up while existing garden beds, especially those at the front entrance had a total makeover following removal of dead shrubs and branches, pruning, weeding and mulching!

A total transformation both inside and outside the gates not only enhances our school entrance but also endorses our plan to create beautiful green spaces within our school grounds for students, staff and the wider KPS community.

NATIONAL TREE DAY FOR SCHOOLS (Friday July 24)

As part of the annual Planet Ark initiative established in 1996, Frankston City Council provides thousands of free indigenous plants to local schools and kindergartens to enhance and beautify their natural environment.  This year KPS has received 400 plants! Some have already been planted by M2A, M2B and M1A, others will be planted up by 3/4A and 3/4B on Friday and by other students next week…

GARDEN CLUB!

I’m delighted to announce that we now have five classes coming along to the garden at allocated times on a weekly basis! These are wonderful opportunities for students to connect with nature, learn about our food source and to work as a team while engaging in a variety of outdoor activities enjoying the fresh air and having fun!

Congratulations to our 5/6 Divisional Tee Ball teams on an outstanding day of competition!

Our Girls’ Team put in a fantastic performance, defeating Woodlands Primary School to claim victory and secure their place at the Regional Championships. They will now represent Karingal Primary School at the regional competition on Monday 18 August at Cheltenham Baseball Club. We wish the team the very best of luck as they continue their incredible journey!

Our Boys’ Team also had an excellent day, with the overall result coming down to the final game of the competition. Despite a determined effort, they narrowly missed out, finishing in an impressive second place. The boys should be incredibly proud of their teamwork, sportsmanship and resilience throughout the day.

A huge congratulations to all of our players for the way they represented Karingal Primary School.

Thank you also to our staff, coaches and supporters who helped make the day such a success.

The countdown is on, and tickets for Karingal Primary School’s 2026 production of The Truth Behind the Tale are almost sold out.

Join us at the Frankston Arts Centre for an unforgettable evening of music, drama and storytelling as our talented students present a heartwarming tale about honesty, courage, forgiveness and discovering that every story has more than one side.

What is the story about?

Once upon a time, in an ordinary schoolyard, one mistake changed everything.

• Kai is blamed for something she didn’t do, while Lindsay keeps a secret she is too afraid to tell.

• As they drift into magical dreams filled with familiar fairy tale heroes, villains and creatures, they embark on an extraordinary journey of self-discovery.

• Along the way, they discover that stories are rarely as simple as good versus evil, and that sometimes the bravest thing of all is telling the truth.

This inspiring production reminds us that every story has more than one side and that honesty, courage and forgiveness can change everything.

100 Days Brighter! Celebrating 100 Days of Prep

Our 2026 Prep students are getting ready to celebrate an exciting milestone - 100 Days of School - on Thursday, 30 July!

To mark this special occasion, this year’s theme is “100 Days Brighter!” We can’t wait to see our Prep students light up the school with their creativity and colourful outfits.

Students are invited to:

* Wear something bright and colourful
* Dress up as something bright
* Decorate their outfit with 100 of something - such as stickers, pom-poms, stars, buttons or any other creative ideas!

Over the past 100 days, our youngest learners have shown incredible growth as they have built new friendships, developed confidence, discovered a love of learning, and embraced every new challenge.

This celebration is a wonderful opportunity to recognise just how far they have come since their very first day of school.

We look forward to celebrating this memorable milestone together and seeing all of our bright, colourful and creative Prep students on the day.

Our first Hooked on Hot Lunch – Fish & Chip Day is just around the corner, and we can’t wait!

Students can choose from a range of delicious lunch options, including chicken nuggets, dim sims or potato cakes with chips. Every meal comes with a bottle of water.

• Lunch order forms are due back by: Thursday 30 July

Please remember that late orders cannot be accepted, so we encourage families to return completed order forms and payment before the deadline to avoid missing out.

The KPS Village has an exciting few months ahead as we continue working together towards our school’s 60th Anniversary celebrations.

Prep Transition Program - 2027 Foundation Students

We are excited to welcome our future Prep students and their families to Karingal Primary School’s 2027 Prep Transition Program.

Starting school is an important milestone, and our transition program has been designed to help children feel confident, comfortable and excited about beginning their learning journey. Through a series of engaging sessions, children will have the opportunity to explore the school environment, meet teachers and future classmates, participate in fun learning activities, and become familiar with school routines.

Our transition program supports children to develop a sense of belonging while building confidence and independence in a safe, welcoming and supportive environment. These sessions also provide families with an opportunity to learn more about school life and begin forming connections with our school community.

The Term 3 transition sessions will commence in August, with further transition sessions to be held during Term 4. Together, these sessions help ensure children are well prepared and ready to make a positive start to their first year of school.

We are continuing to accept enrolment applications for Foundation (Prep) 2027. Families who are considering Karingal Primary School are encouraged to submit their enrolment application and contact the school office if they would like further information or wish to arrange a school tour.
