Starting Dates

Children in Years - Prep - 6 will commence school on

Wednesday 30th January 2008.

Prep Children

Prep children will not be attending regular classes on the first four Wednesdays of February to allow for required Government Prep Assessment.  A timetable for Wednesday attendance for assessments will be arranged with your child’s teacher.  Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday will be regular attendance days from 9.00 am to 3.30 pm.

Preps will attend school everyday from Monday 3rd March 2008.

Parents are asked to pick up Prep children AT THEIR CLASSROOMS at 3.30pm.

UN-ENROLLED children may be enrolled at any time.

Buddy System

All new Prep children at Karingal Primary School have a 'buddy' in a  higher grade.  These children often share time together in the playground.  We find that it is great for the Preps to have an older friend to look after them around the place.

We do really care for every child at this school and we will do everything within

our power to continue what you have been doing at home. We hope to share with you

the enjoyment gained from seeing our children grow into healthy productive citizens.

Ways in which you may contribute to your child’s progress at school

Encourage your child to talk to you by being a good listener.

Allow some time each day to look at the work brought home from school. Praise good effort.  Give paintings and handicraft a place of honour for a few days at least.

If the teacher has printed some words on their paper let them 'read' them to you.  Later, as books come home enjoy their new adventure of reading with them.

Let them read the book to you, talk about the story with them and let them tell you about the pictures.

Remember that children need sufficient REST and SLEEP.  Please put children to bed early (8:00pm), as school can be very tiring on little bodies.

Develop the practice of a bed time story.
